What Is Massage?
In 1805 a Doctor named Pehr Henrik Ling developed a system of kinesiology techniques combined with muscle palpitations to assist the pain-free and fluid movement of athletes for better performance and recovery of injury. What Doctor Ling accomplished in the feild of medical gymnastics became the basis for all applications of western massage therapy and is known as Swedish Massage.
Who Uses Massage?
Therapeutic Massage is popular among people over 40 who need regular routine management of pain that comes with aging. It is also highly beneficial to young people who engage in sports and strenuous activities, body building, foot ball, running, tennis, etc. Anyone at any point in their life may benefit from massage therapy whether due to Sciatica, ongoing pain in the rotator cuff, or even to sooth the emotional alienation that comes from moving or being displaced. This is only a short list of common reasons one may seek professional assistance from a local therapist.
Is Massage A Mutual Exchange?
In short, no. While the work of a Massage Therapist can appear effortless and free flowing, it is extremely easy to permanently damage or injur the recipient. A licensed professional does not trade massage with clients any more than a chiropractor or MD would ask their patient for treatment. If you are interested in becoming a professional massage therapist please call your local massage school to ask about qualifications. Most therapists have completed a minimum of 600 hours of education in anatomy and physiology, business and ethics, hydrotherapy, kinesiology and Swedish Massage. In addition to this they must complete 100 hours of internship, pass the MBLEX exam and pass background screening through the state department of health. Failure to do so can result in a 20,000 dollar fine for practicing without a license. Though, regulations differ from state to state.
So, What Makes Sonja So Great?
I have been a licensed Massage Therapist since 2001 at the tender age of 16 and since that time gained 24 years experience locally and abroad. I became an instructor in 2003 and became involved with high profile clientelle where I learned advanced lessons about discretion and confidentiality. My focus is on pain relief and my success raiting is almost 100%. In some cases such as herniated disk or separated SI joint, surgery is the only option but more often than not, the prognosis is highly promising and treatment wildly successful in the alleviation of suffering.
